Shea Butter

All shea butter recipes are found here.

Shea Butter conditions, tones, and soothes the skin and is one of the best butters for skincare. Shea has high concentrations of fatty acids, vitamins and has anti-inflammatory and healing properties.

Shea butter is high in Stearic and Oleic acids and will produce a long-lasting hard soap with a stable conditioning lather.

How much shea butter in a soap recipe?

If you want a fluffy lather, it’s recommended to use shea butter at 3 – 5% of your entire recipe’s oil. Shea butter contains up to 11% unsaponifiables, so you don’t have to use all that much in your recipe to get the benefits.
Some recipes go as high as 25% so the 3-5% is only a guide.
