It is a better bar than the Castile soap, because of the better mix of fatty acids. The traditional Aleppo soap is made with 2-20% of Laurel Oil, but up to 40% can be beneficial depending on skin type.

Aleppo soap is made from Olive Oil and Laurel Barry Oil, and the stronger percentage of Laurel Berry Oil, the more antibacterial the soap will become. Laurel Berry Oil also benefits dry and irritated skin with its soothing and moisturizing abilities.

The soap is tough in use and last very long!

Recipe percentages, lye, and superfat

  • 80% Olive Oil
  • 20% Laurel Oil (2-20% is normal, but you can even go up to 40%)
  • 25.458% Lye Concentration
  • 38% Water percent of oil weight
  • 5% Superfat
  • 12 oz Total oil weight (514) Laurel Berry Oil is expensive, and the soap lasts a long time, so the batch is small.

If you want scent in this recipe, we recommend the Laurel Essential Oil, that will even enhance the healing potential of the soap.
